Gowhar Ahmed Rather, a 22-year-old youth from Kangan who succumbed to his injuries on Tuesday afternoon, was buried during mid-night today after district administration agreed to demands of the locals, sources said.

Pertinently, the local residents refused to bury the body, saying until their demands were accepted, they won't bury the deceased.

Following this Additional Deputy Commissioner Syed Shahnawaz Bukhari (KAS), held a meeting with the family and elders of the area last night and agreed to their demands. After demands of locals to register FIR against police, released youth arrested following clashes in the area and pay compensation to the bereaved family were agreed by the administration, the locals buried the slain Gowhar's body in a local graveyard.

Pertinently, the government has ordered a Magisterial enquiry into the matter in order to 'ascertain the circumstances' that led to Gowhar's death. Notably, Gowhar was admitted at SKIMS Soura after he was critically injured on Monday evening, however, he succumbed on Tuesday afternoon, a doctor posted in the SKIMS said. Though, the Police had said that no firearms were used during the clashes that erupted in the area, and maintained that he fell down and injured himself while police were chasing the protestors.

However, the medical records stated that there were multiple grave injuries in his head with particles of foreign body also penetrating his skull. The CT scan of Gowhar states that foreign body substances were found in his skull, which had an entry spot as well as an exit spots, causing several deformities in his brain. “Multiple skull fractures were found with large metal density of foreign body in substance planes of right frontal region,” the report of CT scan performed on his head states, the copy of which is lying with 'KV'
